Planned Giving

Name Great Bear Foundation in Your Will

You can continue the work you have initiated during your life by empowering Great Bear Foundation to continue its education and outreach programs.

Your estate gift will provide a continuing legacy to Great Bear. To make an estate gift, request your attorney to draft a statement in your will that conveys your desire to either give the entire residue of your estate, give a fraction of your estate, give a specific amount or give a contingent amount.

Residue: I give the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, after the payment of all expenses, taxes, and debts, to Great Bear Foundation, presently located at PO Box 9383, 802 East Front St., Missoula, Montana 59807-9383.

Fraction: I give Great Bear Foundation _____ % (fraction spelled out) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, after payment of all specified bequests, expenses, taxes, and debts, to Great Bear Foundation, presently located at PO Box 9383, 802 East Front St., Missoula, Montana 59807-9383.

Specific Amount: I give $ _____ (number spelled out) to Great Bear Foundation, presently located at PO Box 9383, 802 East Front St., Missoula, Montana 59807-9383.

Contingent: If none of the persons I have identified above as beneficiaries of my estate survive me, I give the rest, residue, and remainder to Great Bear Foundation, presently located at PO Box 9383, 802 East Front St., Missoula, Montana 59807-9383.

Insurance Gifts

A life insurance policy may be an attractive (and often overlooked) asset with which you can help Great Bear Foundation continue its work. The reason that called you to originally purchase the insurance may no longer be valid. Every gift of any size helps Great Bear Foundation continue with its education and outreach programs.

Consider naming Great Bear Foundation as the Beneficiary of the Policy, gifting a policy to Great Bear Foundation or naming Great Bear Foundation as a Beneficiary.

Total: Name Great Bear Foundation, presently located at PO Box 9383, 802 East Front St., Missoula, Montana 59807-9383 as the beneficiary of 100% (one hundred percent) of the proceeds of the policy.

Fractional: Name Great Bear Foundation presently located at PO Box 9383, 802 East Front St., Missoula, Montana 59807-9383 as the beneficiary of ___ % (percentage spelled out) of the proceeds of the policy.

Gift your Insurance Policy Today

If a policy is a paid-up policy and there are no loans, liens, or debts against it, consider giving it to Great Bear Foundation Discuss this first with your legal and financial advisors, and then call Great Bear Foundation at 406-829-9378.

Name Great Bear Foundation as Beneficiary of a 401(k), 403(b), or IRA

Qualified employee benefit plans accumulate tax free during your lifetime. At death, they are subject to tax. 100% of the account balance is included in the taxable estate of the decedent. Any taxable beneficiary who receives a distribution from an IRA, 401(k), or 403(b) as a result of the death of the owner must pay income tax on the entire amount received. Some plans could be taxed as much as 85% as a result of these taxes.

Great Bear Foundation is a qualified 501(c)3 organization. The beneficiary designation to the qualified charity frees your gift from subjection to estate tax.

Name Great Bear Foundation as your qualified plan beneficiary: Total Amount: 100% (one hundred percent) to Great Bear Foundation, presently located at PO Box 9383, 802 East Front St., Missoula, Montana 59807-9383.

Fractional Beneficiary: ___ % (percentage spelled out) to Great Bear Foundation, presently located at PO Box 9383, 802 East Front St., Missoula, Montana 59807-9383.

Cody Montana Memorial Scholarship Fund

In 2006, Cody Montana traveled to Hudson Bay with the Great Bear Foundation’s Kids’ Trip to the Arctic. Cody’s positive attitude, big heart, and sense of adventure rubbed off on everyone around him.

In the fall of 2009, we returned home from our annual trek to Hudson Bay to the tragic news that Cody had lost his life in a car accident on October 22, 2009. He would have been 17 on January 2, 2010.

His family has asked that we celebrate his life rather than mourn his loss. In celebrating Cody’s life, we have decided to start the Cody Montana Memorial Scholarship Fund to help bring kids to the Arctic, and to help pay for other important educational opportunities for young people.

Cody’s friends, family, and schoolmates have already contributed money to this fund. Please help us to celebrate Cody’s life and to carry on his legacy by helping to provide educational opportunities to other young people.

If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to the Cody Montana Memorial Scholarship Fund, enter any amount below and click “Donate.” You will be transferred to Great Bear’s secure page at PayPal. Thanks!
