Federal Judge sets a 12/23/2010 Deadline for USFWS for Polar Bear Listing

We should have posted this news earlier, but we were busy traveling the latitudes to polar bear country, ourselves. A federal judge set a Dec 23, 2010 deadline for USFWS to justify listing the polar bear as threatened, rather than endangered, which would offer polar bears more protection. According to Associated Press, “the law says a listing determination must be made on the basis of one or more of five factors, including current or threatened destruction of a species habitat or range.”
